It's that time of year, crisp morning air and darkness falling on our evenings. It's a good indication that art, science and engineering are about to collide in Calgary with the remarkable and sometimes wacky antics of the Beakerhead Festival.
For the fifth straight September East Village welcomes imagination and beauty to the neighbourhood in the form of fantastical installations from our friends at Beakerhead. Along RiverWalk, in literary spaces, at Fort Calgary and on St. Patrick's Island you'll find treasures filled with the wonder of bigger-than-life glass, fire and lights.
This year you can also gaze upon a Beakerhead favourite resurrected in Victoria Park, our neighbours to the south and an integral part of the vision for a cohesive Rivers District. Visit Enoch Park between 11th and 12th Avenues SE to find the famous Beakerhead Bunnies as part of a light installation delightfully referred to as 'Nibbles'.
Here is a list of all the ways Beakerhead will erupt East Village and Victoria Park this weekend:
Impulse - Tip the scale on fun with these LED teeter-totters on RiverWalk
Nibbles - Enoch Park is home to the light and sounds of bunnies playing in a veggie patch
Seven Wonderers - Science adventure stories AND music at Studio Bell on Friday night
Mars 112 - Make plans Friday night to visit a showhome... on Mars!
Hack the Flyer - Checkout pre-Beakernight little red wagon race action
Beakernight - The culmination of all things remarkable takes over RiverWalk, St. Patrick's Island and Fort Calgary for a Saturday Science Party!
Coffee in Parts per Million - Phil & Seb describe the science behind why we love coffee
