+CONTEXT Design Lectures

Studio Bell (850 4 St SE)

+ CONTEXT introduces the local works of architects and artists through the lens of their larger bodies of work, encouraging Calgarians to engage with design in their city, province and beyond. The series will explore ways in which location, time, and culture shape what is built and how we experience space; each lecture will focus on a specific circumstantial factor and examine how it can be considered and embraced to produce meaningful design.

For the first lecture in the series, James Cutler will present his firm’s residential work across North America, including the Rock House - a 750 square foot home built in the foothills of southern Alberta at Carraig Ridge, designed by drawing inspiration from the surroundings to foster a life lived in harmony and connection with the landscape.
