Join us on October 20th to celebrate – there will be free BARK biscuits for the pooches, and hot chocolate and treats for the humans. Don’t miss out on a Cultured Canines' Dog Park Etiquette workshop, running twice at 1:15pm and 2:15pm.

Join Calgary Public Library on Thursday, November 1 for the Grand Opening of the New Central Library. At 10:00 am there will be a Doors Opening ceremony, followed by a full day of celebration with free programming, some surprises, and guided tours of the building.

Opening Family Weekend continues Saturday, November 3, and Sunday, November 4, with fun, free, family programming. Enjoy live music, crafts, performances, tours, and much more!

This family destination and gathering place was designed to be a landmark structure, built to inspire Calgarians for the next 100 years. Head inside the striking 240,000-square-foot building to find something for everyone. Features include a physical collection of about 450,000 items, the TD Great Reading Room, special programs and spaces for children and teens, a Performance Hall, more than 30 free and bookable meeting spaces, technology and innovation areas, public art, Indigenous Placemaking, and much more.

After November 1, there will be lots to see and do at the new Central Library, located in East Village.

NMC’s popular late-night series returns with special headlining performances by A Tribe Called Red, Smalltown DJs, and DJ Heather, as well as selections from DJ and Chapel Sound co-founder Nancy Lee and Calgary break-beatsmith MollyFi. Bring your most comfortable dancing shoes as NMC turns down the lights and turns up the tunes. This will not your typical night at the museum.

The night will also include:

  • Pop-up bars and bites

  • Lecture on music and psychedelics

  • Interactives, music experiments and other activities celebrating The Original New Timbral Orchestra (aka TONTO)

The performance invites the public to write and share a text addressed to a building of social or historical significance. The text could range from political manifestos, to love letters, to generative or useful questions. Texts could be read aloud, physically attached to, or inserted into the building. writing for building offers a structure through which people might collectively articulate and animate materi­al histories and personal experiences of the built environment.

Run Calgary and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra are collaborating by colliding the wonderful worlds of music and run! Lace up in support of the CPO in a new fun event to Calgary, as seen in cities around the world.

Challenge yourself to finish an 8km race, in a 4km looped course along the beautiful Bow River, before the CPO completes 50 minutes of Beethoven's best music. After you've crossed the finish line, enjoy a glass of wine under the big white tent while taking in a free concert by CPO highlighting their upcoming season. Friends and family can enjoy the free outdoor concert, too – they worked hard to cheer you on, after all!
