Hailing from Calgary/Treaty 7 territory, The Shiverettes come equipped with gnarly riffs, snotty attitude, and brash honesty. With a sound that’s been compared to The Stooges, Seven Year Bitch, and MC5, the four-piece push their Feminist Agenda™ with a heavy dose of sass, side eye, and shade. The Shiverettes are taking over and yanking Calgary punk into the deep end of the feminist pool.

RiverWalk Public Art Info Session

St. Louis Hotel (430 8 Ave SE)

Do you have a connection to East Village and want to get involved in our next public art installation? Local artist Katie Green invites you to attend an information session on April 13th to learn about how you can actually be IN the artwork she’s creating!

Katie was recently selected by a volunteer community art committee as the next artist to bring fresh new art to RiverWalk this summer. In this fourth iteration of the temporary installation series that began in 2010, community residents, business owners and other East Villagers will have the opportunity to participate in the process.

The new artwork, entitled Bridge, will adorn RiverWalk’s flyover and bridge abutments, storage shed and outdoor bathroom for the next 36 months. This installation will engage the different community groups of East Village in a series of mask-making workshops designed to investigate empowerment through anonymity. Following the workshops, participants will be photographed wearing their masks in spaces around East Village. These photographs will be the foundation of a work that explores self, community, and our inner and outer worlds.
