Stormwater:
Tempest in a Stormpond

The East Village Stormwater Retention Wetland is a living natural history museum and an environmental cleanup superhero. It’s a beautiful addition to the landscape, but it’s more than another pretty place for a school field trip. Its plantings naturally filter stormwater runoff collected from the streets of East Village, which means the river receives cleaner, clearer water and you get a bluer, more inviting place to spend time.

You may already have strolled by the wetland, which was completed in 2008. Soon, it’ll link to the RiverWalk, offering another destination on this green ribbon.
