Welcome Home, East Villagers!

When Marc Patel, a 28-year old Pharmacy Manager for Canada Safeway, was handed the keys to his new East Village home on August 31, he became the first of the first new wave of residents to call East Village home. Fittingly, Marc’s new place is called FIRST.

Situated on Confluence Way at 5th Street SE across from the historic Simmons Building, FIRST was developed by FRAM+Slokker, who were one of the initial developers on the ground back when East Village was still just a really good idea. Construction on the 18-storey tower, home to 196 condos, began with a ground-breaking ceremony in February 2013.

Since then, a lot has changed in East Village. The Jean and Jack Leslie RiverWalk™ has been completed, the Simmons Building has been refurbished and reopened as home to three taste-tempting gastronomic tenants, the George C. King Bridge now skips gracefully over to St. Patrick’s Island, and the revitalized island has reopened as a nature hub and backyard playground. All around FIRST, East Village continues to grow into its vibrant future.

It won’t be long before Marc Patel gets to meet his new neighbours. Every day FRAM + Slokker will be welcoming six new residents into their new homes in FIRST. With other EV residences nearing completion and with FRAM+Slokker’s second EV project, VERVE, expected to break ground this fall, Marc shouldn’t have any problem rounding up new-found pals with whom to explore everything their amenity-rich neighbourhood has to offer.

“I chose to move to East Village, because I wanted to live in a condominium that was close to all the great events in this city, and a place that was conveniently close to work, the gym and a running path”, says Marc. A new home in FIRST checks all those boxes.
