What’s the best part about the Olympics? Some say the athleticism, others say the ceremonies – we think it’s the Games’ ability to bring people together. So with the Olympic spirit in heart and mind, we decided to bring our favourite part of this international sporting event to East Village; not through sport (you won’t be seeing any ski slopes in the community) but with our Olympics wishing wall.
East Village is looking ahead with 20/20 vision: a future-forward parkade is scheduled to be completed in the neighbourhood in fall 2020. This isn’t just any old run-of-the-mill parkade though. The 5-level building has been designed to allow for full structure conversion, and will feature an innovation centre for Calgarians.
East Village is one step closer to welcoming new residents later this year! Today, community developer partner FRAM+Slokker marked the ‘topping off’ of their 25-storey condominium tower, “Verve”. This construction milestone is another important step forward in the residential development of the neighbourhood, which will eventually be home 11,000 residents.
Looking for a cuppa joe? Well you won't have to search far in East Village. We've got more than enough coffee shops to keep you caffeinated at all hours of the day! So come visit the neighbourhood to kick back and relax with a cup of the good stuff. You might even win a coffee lovers gift set while you're at it if you've recently visited High Performance Rodeo or the East Village Experience Centre.
For the past 5 weeks we’ve been sharing Throwback Thursday videos from East Village’s early days on Facebook and Twitter. We were celebrating the halfway mark in East Village’s revitalization by reflecting on our progress. Calgary Municipal Land Corporation – EV’s Master Developer – began their work in 2007, and the community is scheduled for completion in 2027. We’ve sure changed a lot in a decade – you wouldn’t even recognize the East Village of today from the one 10 years ago.
It's that time of year, crisp morning air and darkness falling on our evenings. It's a good indication that art, science and engineering are about to collide in Calgary with the remarkable and sometimes wacky antics of the Beakerhead Festival.
For the fifth straight September East Village welcomes imagination and beauty to the neighbourhood in the form of fantastical installations from our friends at Beakerhead. Along RiverWalk, in literary spaces, at Fort Calgary and on St. Patrick's Island you'll find treasures filled with the wonder of bigger-than-life glass, fire and lights.
Calgary's newest, oldest, coolest, warmest neighbourhood has got tongues wagging (and keyboards clacking) across the city and around the globe! A once forgotten corner of Calgary, East Village is well on its way to becoming the city’s most happening neighbourhood – have you noticed? Don't worry, we'll bring you up-to-date with recent rumblings, pictures with a sky-high perspective, and a virtual glimpse into East Village Junction, our pop-up retail park to pep up summer.
We are recruiting motivated individuals to fill several positions on our Event Activation and Street Team (E.A.S.T.) crew. This outgoing group of go-getters helps to execute the numerous events and programs that take place in and around East Village.
Welcome home to East Village, N3 residents – we’ve been waiting for you! But thankfully not for too long, since it was only 17 months ago that the N3 project broke ground. Now, in Spring 2017, condo owners have just finished moving into their new homes at 4th St and 8th Ave SE.
