East Village streets will be narrow and bustling where shops are one-of-a kind; bigger, urban-format stores will offer variety on larger thoroughfares. Restaurants will be of every stripe, from a steakhouse to a food cart by the National Music Centre or a bistro in EVE Block. Some destinations, like the Simmons Building, will offer a variety of choices under one roof. Everywhere, hospitality is a hallmark, as EV merchants welcome Calgarians back to the city’s birthplace. With Embassy Bosa and FRAM+ Slokker alone contributing some 140,000 sq. ft. of commercial space, East Village will offer some of the city’s choicest places to shop – and give residents what they need right on their doorstep.
The EVE (East Village Experience) Block will house the village movie theatre, event space, street-level stores and several stories of residences. It will really be the heart of the village, a landmark with a glass-covered central space that will frame The Riff walkway and draw visitors and locals alike, winter and summer.
