Light Up Langevin Program

The 100-year-old Langevin Bridge in East Village is lit with thousands of LED lights that change with the seasons and in honour of holidays and events. Now you can choose the colours you’d like to see on this brilliant gateway to East Village.

Your colours could celebrate a favourite charity event, a neighbourhood milestone, a school project or a city festival. The bridge has 156 RGB LED lights, each composed of 36 one-watt lamps that are oriented to highlight every beam and truss of the bridge structure.

The Become a Langevin Bridge Lighting Partner (aka Lighting Partner) program is a pilot project being executed by CMLC to encourage public engagement and interaction with the East Village redevelopment project. The pilot project is intended to be community building by assisting credible businesses, charitable and not for profit operators with the promotion of their community programs and events. It is not intended to represent any political or religious viewpoints. Applications must be received at least 4 weeks (one month) prior to the desired date of lighting. Please provide alternate dates if possible, as your desired 1st choice date selection may already be programmed or scheduled. The Langevin Bridge and lighting system is maintained by Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC); it is not maintained or run by the City of Calgary or Province of Alberta. This public engagement program is a pilot program launched in 2012. Its policies and practices are subject to change in accordance with CMLC’s practices and planned objectives. Selection as a Lighting Partner is a privilege, not an entitlement. Only the applicants on the original submitted application will receive written notification stating whether your application has been approved or denied. Follow-up calls, e-mails and/or faxes are not necessary; please assume that the written notification you receive is the final response from CMLC for the application. Applying to become a Lighting Partner does not guarantee approval. Moreover, past Lighting Partners must apply each year to be considered and are not automatically guaranteed to be selected again. CMLC is under no obligation to provide specific feedback to any individual or organization regarding the status, merit and/or denial of its application. If you do not agree to these terms, your application will not be considered nor submitted through the review process.
