Pysanky - The art of Ukrainian Easter egg decorating

Stop by the East Village Experience Centre to see local Pysanky artist Daena Diduck showcase the beautiful artistry and rich tradition of Ukrainian Easter Egg decorating.

Daena has been writing pysanky since she was a child in Saskatoon. She learned the traditional art form through the Ukrainian program at St. Goretti Elementary School as well as at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada. The art is passed down from generation to generation and Daena now passes the tradition on to the people of Calgary. She will show how the egg is decorated using wax and dyes and will also have some examples of completed pysanky  on display.

Daena will be on-hand doing a live demonstration from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Hang out for a while to see her at work and then catch-up with our EV Ambassadors to hear about the latest happenings in our community.
