In East Village, new retail is following hot on the heels of our new residents – some 600 people since last year! The Simmons, with its great food and coffee, is already the de facto community hangout. And in 2016, construction will begin on more new shops and services. But the leader and very first new service retailer in EV is the Merle Norman salon, which opened Saturday, March 5, in the FIRST condominium building at the corner of 6 Ave. and 5 St. SE.
“We’re really excited to welcome Merle Norman and owner Wendy Tong to East Village,” says Deb Pedersen, director of sales for FRAM+Slokker. “We know that East Village is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city, and we’re confident she’ll be successful in this great location.”
The rest of us are pretty sure she’ll be successful, too. The Merle Norman studio will offer life-affirming essentials like mani-pedis and a full range of other nailworks. There’s waxing, makeup consultations and applications, and many other treatments. East Village is looking good!
