As many of you know, we recently announced the top-6 finalists for our East Village Ambassador position. We’d like to congratulate Zoey Duncan, Rita Michaud, Rina Chong, Mickey Valenz, Elinor Stenroos and Katie Novak for making it into the final phase of our application process. Thank you for sharing your passion for EV through your creativity and humour over the past few weeks! It was a wonderful journey.
We’d like to add that choosing from the large collection of evLiving applicants wasn’t easy. When we decided to conduct our search for our first East Village Resident Ambassador through this process several months ago, we didn’t know what to expect.
We certainly couldn’t have anticipated the incredible and humbling response the opportunity would garner. On the one hand, we were thrilled to discover the diverse collection of fun, creative and passionate people who were excited about our new, burgeoning community. On the other hand, it meant that no matter choice we made, we would be turning away numerous interesting and talented people.
We’ve been asked what factors informed our selection process. The primary criteria were: creativity, perceived “fit” for the role by answering the question “why you are best candidate for the position”, connection to the East Village community, and the applicant’s talent at social media engagement.
Role fit and a strong community connection became especially important factors as the process advanced. We wanted to be sure EV’s Ambassador would have the passion and experience to explore the community as well as effectively communicate what it means to them.
Again, we’d like to thank everyone who participated over the last two months. You made the job of picking our first ever Resident Ambassador exciting, fun, exhilarating, thrilling and, finally, challenging (in a good way). Calgary is clearly home to a wide range of talented individuals.
We can’t wait to welcome you into East Village as the community continues to develop and evolve.
