The Crossroads is the final puzzle piece in the pedestrian pathway that links key elements of East Village: the George C. King Bridge, RiverWalk, the Riff pedestrian street and Fort Calgary. The anchor of the Crossroads plaza is its Wheel of Women, an interpretive ground-level installation that celebrates Calgary women of influence throughout the city’s history. Crossroads also offers historical elements – a nod to the nearby Fort Calgary – as well as a children’s playground and EV’s thriving community gardens. This thoughtfully-landscaped area is designed by the renowned Canadian landscape architecture firm Moriyama & Teshima, and Calgary’s Stantec Consulting – the same team that made RiverWalk the special place it is. The community gardens and playground component was carefully designed by notable Canadian firm 5468796 Inc. and is now complete and welcomed its first gardeners in 2016.
